Gift Voucher for "Forging Forward" Blacksmithing Course

£245.00

Recommended for people who have attended our Introductory Course, this voucher can be redeemed against a full day developing your blacksmithing skills further by making a larger item to take home. The project will have a seasonal theme, for example a sculptural or practical item for your garden.

Please note that vouchers must be redeemed and the course attended within 12 months of purchase. After that time the voucher is void and we cannot accept it on any subsequent course. This voucher entitles the purchaser to a place on a Forging On course. Please select the Introductory voucher if you are purchasing for a beginner or for our Poppy course.

What’s included in the Forging Forward course:

You will make a large hand-forged object with a seasonal theme, for example an item for the garden. The finished piece will fit in the boot of a car so that you can take it home.

Refresh and develop your knowledge of the six essential forging techniques:

  • Bending

  • Drawing Down (reducing a section of steel to a point)

  • Jumping Up (increasing a section of steel)

  • Punching (making a hole)

  • Cutting (using a hot-set or chisel)

  • Fire Welding (joining two pieces of metal in the forge)

Use some or all of these techniques to create a piece of work to take home.

Learn about finishes for steel which is being kept outdoors.

You will need to bring:

Enthusiasm, a sense of humour, a willingness to learn and some lunch. We will provide the rest!
