Gift Voucher for Introductory Blacksmithing Course

£195.00

Redeem your voucher against a full day learning the ancient craft of blacksmithing in the company of a blacksmith with thirty years experience in traditional and modern forgework. Start with our introductory course in a supportive and professional environment, and we are sure you will want to return for one of our more advanced courses.

Please note that vouchers must be redeemed and the course attended within 12 months of purchase. After that time the voucher is void and we cannot accept it on any subsequent course. This voucher entitles the purchaser to a place on either the Introduction to Blacksmithing course or a Poppy making course.

What’s included in the Introduction course:

You will make a hand-forged object with a seasonal theme, for example a toasting fork.

Learn about the six essential forging techniques:

  • Bending

  • Drawing Down (reducing a section of steel to a point)

  • Jumping Up (increasing a section of steel)

  • Punching (making a hole)

  • Cutting (using a hot-set or chisel)

  • Fire Welding (joining two pieces of metal in the forge)

Participants will use some or all of these techniques to create a piece of work to take home.

In addition to this, you will have a fascinating insight into the history and mystery of forge work and blacksmithing.

You will need to bring:

Enthusiasm, a sense of humour, a willingness to learn and some lunch. We will provide the rest!
